With an estimated population of 14 million people, Lagos is easily the biggest city in Africa. It’s probably growing to be one of the 5 biggest cities in the world right now. It is very hard to be sure about that number, because a census is impossible in the rough conditions of the city.
Over 50% of the world population is living in cities. In the developed world its even more. The population of cities is globally growing by 1 million people every week! Nigerias former capital (Abuja has been the capital since 1991) is on the rise on the list of megacities and its climb is to the top is scarily fascinating.
The BBC is presenting a wonderful documentary on the life in Africa. After the shocking video about child soldiers in Liberia, I present you a city with lots of heartwarming people. Willing to change everbodies life for the better.
